Jon Markman Brings New "Speculations" Column to MarketWatch.com

 

NEW YORK (May 10, 2010) – MarketWatch.com announced today the addition of a new, weekly investment column from contributor Jon Markman, “Jon Markman’s Speculations,” focusing on stocks and stock market analysis.  Mr. Markman is an award-winning financial journalist and most recently served as a columnist for MSN Money.

With a mission to target active investors, the launch of Jon Markman’s Speculations is the latest in a line-up of new columns and premium products for MarketWatch, with several additional initiatives to debut in the coming months. 

“The economic recovery is creating rapid new opportunities for investors, as well as dangers, from emerging markets to currencies to blue-chip stocks,” said David Callaway, editor-in-chief of MarketWatch. “These new columns and premium investment reports will give readers and subscribers the investment ideas and specific security recommendations they need to stay one step ahead of the markets.”

  • Your Portfolio – A new column by MarketWatch retirement columnist Bob Powell in Boston, focusing on ways to structure your portfolio to handle different periods of your life, from college savings to retirement.

MarketWatch will soon add to its line up of premium products with Hulbert on Markets: What’s Working Now, a weekly report that tallies up the top recommendations from the most successful investment advisors that week.  The site recently launched Revolution Investing, a weekly premium report by Fox Business News personality and MarketWatch blogger Cody Williard, focusing on what stocks to pick to best play the increasing battle between Washington and Wall Street.

About Mr. Markman

Mr. Markman was portfolio manager and senior investment strategist at a multi-strategy hedge fund from 2002 to 2005.  He previously served as a managing editor and columnist at CNBC on MSN Money from 1997 to 2002, and as an editor, investments columnist and investigative reporter at the Los Angeles Times from 1984 to 1997. 

Mr. Markman won a Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Financial Journalism for his columns explaining market chicanery in 2002; Society of Professional Journalists awards for his 2001 reporting on Enron and the post-September 11-investment environment; and was a news editor on Los Angeles Times staffs that won Pulitzer Prizes for spot-news reporting in 1992 and 1994.

A graduate of Duke University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, he speaks frequently on investment topics at conferences nationwide as well as on television and radio.
